1950s fashion reflected a growing economy, baby boom, rock & roll and something called the teenager. The wasp-waisted New Look endured, Chanel returned and the hemline dropped to mid-calf. Women wore tailored suits with fitted jackets and rounded shoulders, pencil and circle skirts, cropped pants, crinolines and bullet bras for the sweater girl.
