Vintage 1960s Cocktail Dress Beaded Black Velvet w Low Back

This is a gorgeous vintage 1960s cocktail dress, made of black velvet and beautifully decorated with crystal beading around the neckline, the edge of the low cut back and on the cuffs of the sleeves. This vintage 1960s cocktail dress has small thin pads in the shoulders, above the wrist length sleeves, a rounded high neckline, and, of course, the aforementioned spectacular low cut back! It is cut to follow the body contour and is made in a below the knee length. It does up with a nylon zipper at the back and has a short slit at the back hemline. It is unlined except for black satin fabric across the upper bodice. The velvet is very soft to the touch, either a silk velvet or an excellent quality rayon velvet. 

Age: 1960s There is no maker’s label, but I believe that this vintage 1960s cocktail dress was seamstress made. 

Sizing: No size label is present, and although this vintage 1960s cocktail dressshould fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit: 

Shoulders: 15” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam 

Sleeves: 21” from the shoulder/sleeve seam 

Sleeve inseam: 16” 

Bust: 34”-35” around 

Waist: 28” around 

Hips: 36” around, 

Overall length: 41”, measured flat 

Condition: This vintage 1960s cocktail dress is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour - there may be some slight matting/marking to the velvet, but this is not pronounced. The shoulder pads are attached only on one side of each pad, so you might want to better secure them. This dress was well cared for and stored over the years.
