Antique 19th c CG Schierholz Plaue Porcelain Figurine of Boy Dresden Quality

This is a beautiful quality 19th century porcelain figurine made in the form of a boy. The underside is marked underglaze with double crossed lines in blue underglaze, the mark of the CG Schierholz factory located in Plaue, Thuringia, Germany between 1860 and 1907. The Schierholz factory was founded in 1815 and controlled by the sovereign Gunther Friedrich Carl I who granted the operation of the factory to Christian Gottfried Schierholz. Eventually Schierholz gained control of the factory and the family retained control until 1972. The factory was known during the 19th century for producing quality Dresden ware and Meissen-like pieces. This figurine is an example of the high quality that Schierholz produced. It is a small figurine measuring 4 1/4 in height. but the attention to detail in the modelling and finishing of the figurine is exceptional - note the accuracy in the rendering of the fingers of the hands. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, wear or repairs. This is a lovely quality 19th century figurine, produced in an area of Germany known for the highest quality porcelain - wonderful addition to a collection!
