Antique Aller Vale Torquay Pottery Miniature Jug Ladybird Pattern

This is an antique Aller Vale Torquay pottery miniature jug decorated in the Ladybird pattern. The decoration is slip applied and sits raised on the surface, glossy and enamel-like. Aller Vale was founded in 1881 and closed its doors in 1932. Its founder, John Phillips, was influenced by the philosophy of William Morris, a movement towards handmade objects as opposed to the industrialization that was underway during the 19th century. The jug measures 3 in height and a has a width of 3 1/2 including its handle. It is in very good condition with no cracks or noted wear. It is hand inscribed on its underside with Aller Vale 1166/N6.
This is a lovely display miniature jug - nice acquisition for an Aller Vale or Torquay collection.
