This is a lovely antique 15 carat gold jewelry pin made in the form of a swallow bird in flight, flanked with leaves. The bird and leaves are decorated with seed pearls and the pin was made in Scotland by a Dundee jeweler. The back of one of the wings of the bird is stamped 15 ct, while the pin catch is stamped “314k”. It is in very good condition as shown in the photos. The pin comes in its original box.
Age: early 20th century
Box: Wm. Ferrar Goldsmith, The Ring Specialist, Jeweller - Harry Tulloch’s Successor 70 High St. Dundee. William Ferrar passed away in 1911, and the business was continued by his widow, Mary. Difficult to say whether this was produced before his passing, but the presence of “Harry Tulloch’s Successor” may provide a clue.
This is a beautifully crafted pin - 15 carat gold is rather rare and old Scottish jewelry is very collectible....
