Antique Royal Stanley Jacobean Pottery Plate

This is a lovely plate made by Colclough & Co. under their Royal Stanley Jacobean line. Jacobean Ware was created to compete with Moorcroft Pottery - although it was not tube lined like Moorcroft, it had similar arts and crafts based decoration. It was produced between 1903 and 1928 and was glazed on a terra cotta clay base. This plate features a fruit based design in striking colours against a pink background, unusual for Jacobean Ware, which usually has a cobalt blue background. The plate has a scalloped edge and measures 9 in diameter and is fairly thick and heavy, weighing 1 lb and 2 oz. It is in very good condition with the exception of a tiny surface chip near the centre of the plate (see last close-up photo), very minor.

This is a lovely display plate - wonderful fruit design in pretty colours!
