This is a Pilkingtons Royal Lancastrian handled pedestal footed centrepiece bowl made in a very attractive blended glaze. The glaze runs in tones of orange, yellow and bronze ( combination of dark green and brown). Im unsure of its exact age, but did find a similar glaze that was thrown by Edward Thomas Radford in 1930. The underside is stamped with the Pilkington rose mark (difficult to make out) but no discernible date code or other marking other than Made in England. It measures 5 in height and has a top diameter of 10 1/2, exclusive of the handles - it weighs a little over one kilo (2.2 lbs). It is in very good condition with the exception a chip to the top edge behind one of the handles (please see last close-up photo of the damage). In addition, the centre top appears to have some glaze wear - Im unsure if this is original to firing or not. The damage is fairly negligible and the bowl displays very well.
Despite the chip, which could be repaired, this is a nice piece of Pilkington pottery - interesting glaze and good size..
