J.C. d’Ahetze was one of the best known men’s shops in Paris during the early 20th century until the mid-century, in the same league as Charvet or Sulka, carrying very high-end quality menswear. I believe that they went out of business during the 1960s - this tie should date to the 1950s. d’Ahetze ties are so desirable that there are various examples carried in the collections of well known museums, including the Met and the Victoria and Albert in London. They are also rare - it is quite difficult to find examples, especially clean examples like this tie. It features a woven pattern that looks like paisley shaped leaves in off-white and in blue against a rich red background. It has two labels affixed to it, one that reads “Soie” (French for silk) and another that reads “j.c. d’ahetze paris new york”. It measures 48 1/2” in length with a width of 3” at its widest. It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or soiling, very clean and ready to wear - the only issue is that the maker’s label is detached on one side, just needs a stitch.
This is a rare and desirable tie - very rich looking!
