Vintage 1930s Mink Fur Stole Shoulder Shrug J Walsh Montreal

This is an attractive mink fur shoulder shrug or stole dating to the late 1930s or early 1940s. The piece comes with its original box that is labeled “J Walsh Furs 1416 Park Ave. Montreal”. My research has found that J Walsh Furs was at that address between 1938 and 1943 only, so the shrug would date to that year range. It is made of two small minks that are linked together. The minks are complete with heads and legs. There is a celluloid chain closure as well as a bakelite clip on the underside of the end snout that allows one to fix the stole either around the shoulders or hanging from the neck. The stole has a cloth label affixed to the underside of one pelt which reads “Furs by Walsh Montreal” - the label looks to be late deco period. The colour of the fur is a dark reddish brown.
Sizing: 45” in length from the end of the tail to the tip of the snout
Condition: This mink stole is in very good condition, especially considering its age - fur has good sheen and there is no observed shedding. This piece appears to have been well cared for over the years. The box, however, has a lot of condition problems with the end panels of the cover missing and part of one of the side panels also missing, I have also lost a piece off the top of the box that had cracked, so the box is not as complete as shown in the photo. You may not want the box but I thought I should at least show it as it is original to the stole.
This is a wonderful late deco era fur - great period piece!
