This is a lovely quality 100% pure cashmere cardigan sweater made in Scotland by Ballantyne in a very attractive wine red colour, a little towards the magenta tone. It dates to the 1960s or maybe early 70s. It is made in a cardigan style with a five brass button closure, V shaped neckline and wrist length sleeves. It has two buttons at either sleeve cuff and has a shallow pocket built onto either lower front side, each decorated with a similar brass button to the others. The sweater is unlined and the opening edge, cuffs and bottom are ribbed. The cashmere is a heavier weight and ultra soft.
