This is a very pretty Boucher brooch dating to the early 1960s.
This Boucher brooch is signed on the backside with Boucher, Carnation and with the number 8056P. That number dates the design to around 1961, and would have been designed by Marcel Boucher (1898-1965) himself, maybe in partnership with his wife Sandra, who was his design partner. The brooch is made in floral form with a crystal rhinestone in its centre. The brooch measures 4 1/4 in height, longer than other examples that Ive seen, which are usually 3 high. It is in very good condition with no wear. This Boucher brooch is made in a slender form, easy to incorporate on a hat, jacket lapel, collar or elsewhere.
Marcel Boucher had his early training at Cartier in Paris, and then in New York. He started his costume jewelry business in 1937. When Dior introduced his New Look fashion in 1947, Boucher began to design elegant parures to match the return to elegance during the late 40s and through to the 60s.
This is a lovely quality Boucher brooch pin.nice sized statement piece, sure to be noticed!
