This is a 1950s era varsity/school cardigan style sweater worn by someone with the name of “Bob” as there is a patch that reads Bob on the upper right sleeve. The sweater is made in a “letterman” style, but the nice thing about this sweater is that there are no letters, numbers or other identifying patches, other than the aforementioned Bob. The sweater is made in blue with three white stripes outlined in green plus another navy blue wool band on the left sleeve. The sweater was manufactured by the Dehen Knitting Co. of Portland, Oregon, which was an American supplier of knitted garments, particularly to schools. The label reads “100% Wool Dehen Knitting Co. All American Portland, Oregon Dry Clean”. It has a built-in pocket at either lower side and does up with a series of buttons down the front. It would fit a large size as it is marked as a 42, but being a vintage sizing, please read the measurements provided. Measurements are as follows:
Shoulders: 20” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 27” long from shoulder seam, cuff unturned

Seam Inseam: 21” long
Chest: 47” around
Waist: 44” around
Length: 27” long
The sweater is in very good condition - the only problems are a missing button, the last hole up from the bottom, and a tiny hole on the inside of one of the pockets (see last close-up photo). Otherwise, there are no pulls, no holes or stains - this sweater has been very well kept over the years.
This is a wonderful vintage Dehen sweater - they are producing reproductions of these sweaters under the “1920 Dehen” label, but this is an authentic 50s era sweater, nicer quality and fabric. Great acquisition if your name is Bob!
