This is a vintage hand made chenille embroidery of an exotic bird that I think is meant to represent a Bird of Paradise.  It’s a difficult piece to date, but I would think that it dates to the 1930s, although it appears to have been more recently framed.  The piece is made in multiple vibrant colours - blue, light blue, green, light green, red, pink, coral, gold, purple, violet, orange, brown, beige and white.  The front side is “fuzzy” while the backside is not - how one achieves this, I’m not sure.  I removed the backing paper in order to photograph the backside.  The embroidery is on a black wool background fabric.  It is in very good condition with no wear or fading - there is a tiny repair to the wool background, very minor.  It is quite large, measuring about 16 1/2” by 25” while the frame measures 18 1/4” by 27 1/2”.  The price includes shipping within the US and Canada, but shipping would be by parcel post service in its frame.  I could remove the piece and ship it rolled up should you prefer, in which case I would use priority post.

 

This is a very pretty piece of work - lovely bright colours, perfect to brighten up a room!
