This is a wonderful pair of modernist earrings signed Panetta, both on the back and on the clip of each earring. They are made of gold toned metal studded with turquoise coloured “stones”. They are made of three pieces that are hinged together so that they “dangle”. Each measures 2 1/4” in in height. They are in very good condition with no observable wear, repair or replaced stones.
Panetta was founded in 1945 in New York City by Beneditto Panetta who had been a fine jeweller while in Italy. His sons worked with him and continued the company until the late 80s, when it was sold, eventually closing its doors in 1995. Panetta was known for high quality, with attention to detail in replicating the look of fine jewelry. Their jewelry was limited in production and high priced for costume jewelry, so examples are highly collectible and sought after.
Wonderful look to these earrings - very 60s!
