This is a pullover style sweater top designed by Sonia Rykiel, known as the “queen of the knits”. The sweater is made in a very attractive solid purplish red colour. It has shoulder pads, long “leg o’ mutton” shaped sleeves and a rounded neckline with a two button closure.

Label: Sonia Rykiel Paris Made in Italy. Sonia Rykiel began designing in 1962 because she was pregnant and couldn’t find a sweater that would fit her properly. She started her business in 1965 and became noticed by Vogue magazine in 1967. She opened her flagship store in Paris in 1968.
Material: content label is missing, but definitely wool
Sizing: French size 36 is indicated but please note the following measurements, all taken with the wool unstretched:
Shoulders: 15 1/2” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 26 1/2” long, with the cuff unturned
Sleeve Inseam: 23 1/2”
Bust: 32” around, taken under the arms, unstretched
Bottom: 24” around, unstretched, stretches out to 32”
Length: 23”
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, holes or stains or odors - this looks like it saw gentle use and was very well kept over the years.
