WWII Canadian Army General Service Volunteer Pin Sterling Silver
$45.00
Brand Etsy
This is a vintage WWII Canadian lapel pin that was issued to soldiers who had volunteered for any type of overseas military service. It was a benefit at the time to make it known that you had volunteered to contribute to the war effort - conscripted soldiers were not eligible to wear the pin. Eligible soldiers were also issued a certificate that was to be carried when wearing the pin, as proof that you were indeed issued the pin. The government took this very seriously as the back of the pin has a unique number, in this case, 516771 and also reads Penalty For Misuse 500 Dollars or Six Months Imprisonment - $500 back then would be worth about $8264 today. The pin is also marked Sterling.
Nice addition to a Canadian WWII collection!
