This is an antique fan dating to the Edwardian era and made of black ostrich feathers affixed to celluloid sticks. The front stick has a paddle stick with indent, in keeping with the art nouveau fashion of the time. The back stick is a yellowish colour, different from the other patterned sticks. This antique fan measures 11” in height at the centre, including the ring at the bottom and 16” in width spread out. It is in very good condition except that the back feather is loose and the stick isn’t attached to the other sticks - this just requires a bit of thread and some glue to re-affix the feather. Fans of this type were used from 1900 until the end of the 1910s - sometimes used during the early 20s for theatrical purposes. This is a wonderful antique fan - sure to be noticed!
