Vintage 1960s Suit Brown Velvet w Bell Bottom Pants Small

This is a vintage 1960s suit made of brown velvet and featuring late mod styling including bell bottom pants.  The jacket to this vintage 1960s suit is made with wide notched lapels and has a two button closure. The shoulders are padded and there is a flapped pocket built into either side - there is no chest pocket.   The sleeves have single button cuffs, and the back has an 11 1/2” vent.  The pants have a flat front, a pocket at either side of the front just under the waistband and have, as mentioned, a bell bottom leg.  The jacket is fully lined in a brown acetate fabric.  I once had a very similar vintage 1960s suit sold by Le Chateau of Montreal, and it was made in France - although this is not labeled as such, I have a feeling that it is of French origin due to its quality.

Label: La Boutique Le Patrimoine Inc. 6990 Rue St-Hubert Etat du Quebec.  I’ve attached a photo of an ad for the boutique that was placed in the RIN (Rassemblement pour l'Indépendance Nationale) newspaper in 1968.  The RIN was an organization dedicated to the promotion of Quebec national independence from Canada.  The inclusion of “Etat du Quebec” on the label speaks to the boutique owner’s nationalist sentiments.

Material: no content label on this vintage 1960s suit but it is very soft, most likely 100% cotton velvet, excellent quality

Sizing: No size is indicated but this vintage 1960s suit should fit about a US size 34 with a pant waist of 30”.  Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric into consideration), as well as the style of this vintage 1960s suit:

Jacket:

Shoulders: 17 1/2” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 24” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/2” long

Chest: 38” around, taken under the arms - in my experience, true size is usually 4” smaller than the chest measurement, so, as mentioned, probably a size 34

Waist: 35” around

Overall length: 29 1/2”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Pants:

Waist: 30” around

Leg Inseam: 30” long

Overall length: 40“

Condition:  This vintage 1960s suit is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours - maybe a couple of tiny marks to the velvet, really nothing. This vintage 1960s suit looks like it saw little use and was very well kept over the years.  

This is a wonderful example of late 60s mod styling - excellent quality vintage 1960s suit!
