1st Edition Two Solitudes by Hugh MacLennan Fine Condition w Poor DJ

This is a first edition of the novel Two Solitudes by Hugh MacLennan. Two Solitudes is an important Canadian novel that addresses the relationship between the two principle founding cultures of Canada, the French and English, with the story set during the WWI era. It comes with its original dustjacket which is in poor condition (see photos). The book itself is in fnear fine condition, very clean - there is an envelope attached to the inside cover that contains a number of newspaper clippings, reviews contemporary to the release of the book in 1945 and others that are later, discussing the book, MacLennan, and its impact. The original owners name Dwight is written on the endleaf and there is an applied label on the endleaf. The dust jacket still retains the $3.00 price. It is possible to somewhat partially restore and preserve the original DJ
All in all, a very presentable copy of this important Canadian novel - excellent reading copy.
