Antique Sterling Silver Button Hook Levi & Salaman Birmingham 1890 14.5

This is an antique sterling silver button hook that is hallmarked with the anchor, denoting the Birmingham assay office, the lion, denoting sterling silver quality, the date letter of q, denoting the year 1890 and the initials L.S., which stand for Levi & Salaman. Levi & Salaman are known as prolific makers of button hooks. This antique sterling silver button hook is part of the collection of button hooks that was amassed by a long time collector. It measures 14 1/2 in length, a fairly large example. The end of the button hook is made of repouss sterling silver and the hooked end is made of chromed steel. It is in good condition except for cracking to the cream white material in the middle (see close-up photos).
Despite the cracking, this still makes a nice antique display item - collectible button hook in a larger size by a known British maker!
