This is a mid-century modern Russel Wright granite gray teapot made by Steubenville Pottery as part of the American Modern line. American Modern was Wrights first full dinnerware line, introduced in 1939. This teapot measures 9 3/4 in length from the back of the handle to the tip of the spout and weighs 1 lb and 11 oz. It is excellent condition with no chips, cracks or pronounced wear, a little to the bottom rim from surface contact, really nothing. There is a small manufacturing defect underglaze on the handle, original to the making of the piece, again, nothing of note. The interior is very clean. Hard to find these teapots in great condition - wonderful form, nice addition to a collection or simply to use as a nice teapot.
