Vintage 1980s Yves St Laurent Suit Jacket Brown Snakeskin Pattern Ladies M 40

This is a wonderful vintage suit jacket made by Yves Saint Laurent as part of the “Variation” line.  The Variation line was a cheaper line than the Rive Gauche line, but not cheap.  The jacket is made in a black snakeskin patterned print on a brown background colour.  The jacket has padded shoulders, shawl lapels, a two button closure and a slanted flap at either side that suggests pockets, but there aren’t any pockets.  Please note that the jacket was too large for my mannequin so was pinned back.   

Age: 1980s

Label: Yves Saint Laurent Variation.  Made in Hungary.  The Variation line was introduced by Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.

Material: 100% polyester with a 55% acetate and 45% cupro rayon lining.   The exterior has a shiny appearance to it.

Sizing: Size 40 is indicated - this is a French size, which should be equivalent to a US size 8/10, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the garment into consideration:

Shoulders:  16 1/4” across shoulder seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  23 3/4” long from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam:  17 1/2”

Bust:  41” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  35 1/2”  around

Overall length:  24”, measured flat

Condition: It is in very good condition - this jacket looks to have seen very  little use and was well stored over the years.
