This is a wonderful 1970s vintage dress designed by Jessica McClintock for her label “Gunne Sax”. The dress takes inspiration from Edwardian fashion - McClintock was influenced during the 1970s by prairie, Victorian and Edwardian fashion. The dress has a squared neckline, leg o’ mutton sleeves, high waist that is cinched with ties at the back and a three section skirt that is gathered in tucks so to make it fall in drapes - it is made in an ankle length. The dress is detailed with crochet lace and the semi-transparent voile fabric is woven with an ornate contrasting pattern (see close-up photo). It is lined in acetate and does up the back with a nylon zipper. The sleeves are unlined so are semi-transparent.
