Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a gorgeous 1920s Chinese silk robe dating most likely to the early 1920s, possibly late 1910s.  The embroidery placement, sleeves and cuffs, length and overall construction and cut place the piece squarely in that time period when Chinese export robes of this type were popular with fashionable ladies in the West.  This 1920s Chinese silk robe features hand embroidered silk flowers, butterflies and figural motifs in tones of red, orange gold, green, tan, brown, white, blue and grey against a black silk background - the sleeve cuffs are finished in a beautiful tone of blue silk and embroidered with metallic gold filament as well as with silk in tones of purple, green and brown.  This 1920s Chinese silk robe closes with three black silk buttons and loops and has a Mandarin collar.  It is lined in a black silk.
