This is an antique banded agate glove button hook.  The agate is faceted and has black and white stripes at the top and brown tinted clear to cloudier brown tones below that. This antique banded agate glove button hook is part of the collection of button hooks that was amassed by a long time collector. It measures 4” in length total - the agate measures 2 5/8” and the rest is metal, probably steel.  These smaller button hooks were used for gloves, dress buttons, sleeves or shirt collars and are generally called glove hooks.  It is in very good condition with no noted defect.
