Antique Cobalt Blue Vase Horse and Rider Wheelock Dresden China Germany

This is a wonderful piece of cobalt blue glazed china featuring a graphic of a rider on a horse, possibly a lady rider. The piece is made in the form of a small handled vase and, although unsigned, looks very much like souvenir china that was imported from Dresden Germany by Wheelock. It is possible that because it is unsigned that is pre-dates 1891, when the McKinley Act mandated that all imported china be marked with the country of origin. It measures 6 1/8 tall at its handle and 4 3/8 wide across its handles. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or pronounced wear - some small paint defects original to the making of the piece. I believe that the image is a combination of transfer printing and hand painting.
