This is a lovely Edwardian era skirt, beautiful in its simplicity. It is made of a quality lawn cotton fabric with a series of three flounces around the bottom of the skirt. It is made with a slight train to the back. In my photos, there is a gap at the waistline closure because it was too small for my mannequin, but the skirt has a back opening that fastens with a series of hooks and eyes. You could possibly gusset the opening in order to enlarge the waist capacity.
Age: c 1910
Color: White
Material: Cotton lawn. Light and somewhat semi-transparent, this is perfect summer wear with a half slip or other under garment.
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although it should fit a small size, please note the following measurements for fit, keeping the style and cut of the garment in mind (please measure your body or a similar garment that you own and remember that this has to slip over your body):
Waist: 23” around / Hips: 36” around, but should fall loosely on the hips / Overall length: 40" measured flat at the front and 42” long measured flat at the back
Condition: This skirt is in very good condition with a small tear at the bottom side, visible in the side view photo and a 1/8” diameter hole and pinprick that are 19” down from the waist in the same area to the front side (see last close-up photo). With a few stitches, this skirt will be good to go.
This is a lovely skirt featuring beautiful cotton - very pretty and romantic!
