Antique Porcelain Figurine The Jolly Joker Crowned N Mark Dresden Thuringia Germany
$85.00

This is a quality antique porcelain figurine with text across the front of the base that reads The Jolly Joker. It portrays a jester character pointing to an ace of clubs card that he is holding up. The underside is marked underglaze with a crowned N mark - a number of porcelain factories located in Thuringia, Germany used this mark, including Ernst Bohne and Potschappel, Dresden, founded by Carl Thieme - the depth of this mark, however, looks more in keeping with Potschappel. This figurine probably dates to the very early 20th century, circa 1900. The figurine measures 5 3/8 in height, small but wonderful for cabinet display. It is in very good condition except for a very nice chip to the back of the jesters hat. Despite this, the figurine displays very well with no other chips, cracks or wear. This is a lovely quality antique figurine, produced in an area of Germany known for the highest quality porcelain - wonderful piece to display in a cabinet!
