This is a lovely white cotton petticoat featuring a lace inset flounce around its bottom. The bottom of the petticoat has two layers - the base cotton, and the over flounce. The flounce has three bands of lace around the flounce, two inset, and one at the bottom. The piece has an opening at the top back and does up with a shell button at the waistline of the petticoat. The waist measures 29” around, the hips measure 42” around, but would simply fall loosely and the piece has a length of 39”, measured flat.
Condition: It is in very good condition, with the exception of a small tear in the lace at the bottom, needs a few stitches, and a few light brownish spots in the lace at the back in the same area (see photo of the back and the last close-up photo). These may come out with the right removal treatment, or you could maybe cut out and replace the lace pieces - otherwise, very clean and well cared for over the years.
This is a lovely Victorian petticoat....pretty lace flounce.
