This is a majolica pottery tray or cake plate designed by Eva Zeisel when she worked at SMF (Schramberg Majolika Fabrik). The pattern is known as Gobelin 8, which translates to "tapestry", and which Zeisel designed between 1928 and 1930. The plate is stamped on its underside with SMF Schramberg Majolika Handgemalt 5 and impressed with the number 3430, which I believe to be the shape number. The piece measures 10 7/8 in diameter and is 12 sided. It is in very good condition with the exception of a glaze chip to the side edge and another tiny dark one to the underside edge as well as other fleabite glaze chips to the side edge edge - Ive provided extreme close-ups, which emphasize them more than they appear in real life (see last two close-up photos). Im afraid that that is the nature of SMF pottery - it appears to be a little delicate. Still, this plate displays very well as is - wonderful Eva Zeisel design....
