This is a fabulous 1960s era Paris couture gold lame / green brocade evening gown that was acquired from the estate of the wife of a wealthy financier and recipient of the Order of Canada. Her husband's family was a very prominent Montreal family. Obviously, she had many occasions to wear formal ball gowns, and she bought much of her wardrobe in Paris from various couturiers. Although this dress has no label, it is hand finished, and of the type of quality that was generally only available in Paris at that time. The neckline is made in a flared V shape and the dress has a high waist that is decorated with a green velvet ribbon. The dress is full length with a panel at the back of the skirt that snaps closed around the waistline. The dress is lined in green silk and does up the back with a nylon zipper.
