Vintage 1920s Evening Gown Black Lace and Silk Chiffon Dress Size Medium

This is a vintage late 1920s, maybe early 30s, black lace and silk chiffon dress.  The dress is mostly lace from the mid-thigh upward, except for vertical chiffon insets around the midriff area.  Below the mid-thigh, it is mostly silk chiffon with some lace insetting.  I’ve posed the dress with a more recent shorter slip, but the slip is obviously not right - this would look best with a full length black slip.  I am not including a slip with the dress, so you would have to come up with your own slip.  The dress has a V shaped neckline and long sleeves and is made in a full length.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a woman that fits a size medium - please rely on the following measurements for fit keeping in mind that there are no openings and the dress has to slip over the head and should fit loosely:

Shoulders:  16” across seam to seam

Sleeves: 26” from the shoulder seam to the pointed cuff

Bust: 40”, taken under the arms

Waist: 40” around

Hips: 42” around

Overall length: 58”, measured flat from the top to the hemline

Condition:  It is in very good condition except for a number of breaks/small tears to the lace only, mostly in the lower areas - I counted 12 in all, but nothing that stands out.  Certainly usable as is, but you might want to stitch some of the breaks to ensure that they don’t get worse.  Otherwise, the dress looks great.

Beautiful floral lace pattern, I guess Chantilly lace, and a beautifully structured gown - this was surely a very expensive dress in its day, gorgeous!
