This is a 1940s era nursing school blazer jacket worn by someone who attended McGill University’s School of Nursing, associated with the Montreal General Hospital, hence the MGH on the crest on the pocket. The jacket is made of red wool with white trim. It has padded shoulders, pockets at either side and at the left chest, a two button closure and no lining.
Label: Made by Bland Nurses Outfitters Montreal. The owner’s name is also on an affixed label.
The size label reads “34”, and although it should fit a medium size, please note the measurements provided. Measurements are as follows:
Shoulders: 14 1/2” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 23” long from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Seam Inseam: 17” long
Chest: 38” around
Waist: 36” around
Length: 24” long
The jacket is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or stains - this jacket has been very well kept over the years.
