This is a wonderful early 1950s, possibly late 40s, green herringbone tweed wool ladies’ coat. It has padded shoulders, full cut cuffed sleeves and is cut to flare out to the hemline (note measurements). The coat has a high set narrow shawl collar and a four button closure. The buttons are star cut in a clear plastic. There is a vertical slash pocket built into either side. It is fully lined in a pinkish toned satin fabric. Please note that this is a lighter weight jacket, suitable for evening or moderately cold temperatures as there is no interlining, not very cold winter climates. There is no label, but it is definitely manufactured.
Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the wool and the style of the coat into account:
Shoulders: 16” across from shoulder sleeve seam to shoulder sleeve seam
Sleeves: 24 1/2” from the shoulder sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 17”
Bust: 46” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 47” around
Hips: 48” around
Hemline: 64” around with no overlap
Overall length: 42 1/2“, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or odour - very clean, this coat looks to have seen very little use and was well stored over the years.
This coat features a striking tone of green in a beautiful quality herringbone wool - sure to be noticed!
