Vintage 1950s Top & Skirt Set Strawberry & Watermelon Print 2 Piece Cotton Pique

This is a vintage 1950s two piece set consisting of a top and skirt.  It is made in white cotton piqué / marcella with a strawberry and watermelon print - strawberries and leaves over the top and upper skirt and a watermelon wedge with grapes and strawberries appearing four times around the bottom of the skirt.  The top has a scoop neckline, cap sleeves and does up with five buttons at the back - there are five decorative buttons similarly arranged at the front.  It is seamed through the waist to be form fitting.  The skirt is made full with gathered tucks under the waistband, a little like a circle skirt, but not quite.  It is posed with a crinoline to create a flared look, but none is provided - you would have to use one of your own although the skirt can be used without a crinoline.  The skirt does up the back with a metal zipper.  There are loops for a belt, but no belt. Neither piece is lined

Bust: 36” around taken under the arm openings

Waist: 28” around

Length:  18 1/2”, measured flat

Skirt:

Waist:  26”-27” around

Hemline:  85” around

Overall length: 24 1/2“, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition, looks like it saw little, if any, use - clean with no wear.
