This is a vintage late 60s or very early 70s coat made of a quality tweed wool that is woven in a checked pattern consisting of pinkish toned red and white stripes against a black background. The coat has a black velvet collar with high set wide pointy lapels, a four velvet covered button closure, a slant pocket at either side and box pleats down either side of the front. It has inset long sleeves and is cut a flare to the hemline and a kick pleat at the back. The coat is fully lined in a black satin fabric and there is a white muslin interlining. It has a below the knee length.
Label: Pinto Importateur Exclusif Creation de David Marque Déposée. The retailer’s label reads “Salon Christian Inc. 8552 St. Denis Montreal”. In addition,the coat has a union label on it, with the Canadian ILGWU union logo that was used from 1968 until 1984.
Material: Wool tweed in a coarse weave.
Sizing: There is no size label, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit (please take the style of the coat and thickness of the fabric into consideration):
Shoulders: 15” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam
Sleeves: 23” from the shoulder seam
Sleeve inseam: 16”
Bust: 38” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 38” around
Hips: 40” around
Hemline: 60” around, no overlap
Overall length: 39", measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or odour - this has been well stored and cared for over the years.
