This is a beautiful quality skirt suit made in France by Cacharel of France. The colour is quite striking - a bright greenish yellow that one might call chartreuse yellow. The suit jacket has a clean, modern look to it. I’ve posed it with the top button done up, but you could wear the jacket with the top button undone for a more relaxed look. It has a four button closure that is hidden by an over flap. The shoulders are squared and there is a belt with buckle at either side that would cinch the waist as desired. There is a diagonal slash pocket built into either side and the jacket is fully lined in a chartreuse yellow acetate fabric. The skirt is made with pleats across the front and has a five button closure at the left side. It is also lined.
Age: 1970s
Label: Cacharel Rue E. Marcel Paris France. The Etienne Marcel location is an older one, and this style of label was used during the 1970s. Cacharel was founded in 1958 by Jean Bousquet. It gained a reputation after appearing on the front cover of Elle magazine in 1963 and, in 1965, introduced the famous Liberty print blouse line, which became a wardrobe must-have for the fashionable young Parisian woman.
Material: Pure Wool. The Woolmark logo appears on a label affixed to both the skirt and jacket.
Sizing: Size 8 (French size 38) is indicated, so this should fit a medium size - please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the garment into consideration:

Sleeves: 22 1/4” from shoulder/sleeve seam

Condition: This suit is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odour. It was well cared for and stored over the years and looks to have seen little use.
This is a lovely quality suit as one would expect from Cacharel - classic style and striking colour
