This is a wonderful quality 100% pure cashmere pullover sweater made in Scotland by Ballantyne for Holt Renfrew of Canada. I believe that it dates to the late 1960s. It is made in black and has a geometric linear pattern on the front that has flowers interspersed in tones of blue and pink with yellow centres and green leaves. It has a wide rounded neckline and long sleeves. It does up at the upper back with a nylon zipper. It is unlined and the cuffs and bottom are ribbed.
Label: Made in Scotland Exclusively for Holt Renfrew of Canada by Ballantyne 100% Pure Cashmere. There is a second label that reads “100% Pure Cashmere Made in Scotland”.
Sizing: Size 40”/102 cm is indicated, and although the lady from whom this was acquired normally wore a medium size this may fit a large size - please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 18 1/2” across, seam to seam
Sleeves: 23” from the shoulder seam
Sleeve inseam: 20”
Bust: 40” around, taken under the arms
Bottom: 28” around, unstretched, stretches out to 38” max - it has a ribbed bottom
Overall length: 19”, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, holes or other defect. I have laundered the item, so it is ready to wear.
This is a beautiful quality cashmere sweater - pretty pattern!
