Vintage Longpark Tormohun Rooster Plate Cockerel Dish Torquay Mottoware

This is a vintage Longpark Tormohun Torquay pottery mottoware plate or dish featuring a hand painted rooster or cockerel. The underside is stamped Tornohun Ware Longpark. Tormohun was a better quality line made by Longpark, which was in business from 1883 until 1957. This dish has a bowl-like shape with flared rim and much of the decoration is raised against the surface, It measures 7 3/8 in in diameter with a height of 1 1/8 at its edge. It is in very good condition with no noted chips, cracks or pronounced wear. The motto is hand etched into the surface and reads Theres life alone in duty done And rest alone in Striving.
This is a lovely display piece - nice acquisition for a Longpark or Torquay collection.
