Vintage Sequin Flower Applique 1940s Hand Sewn Unused NOS

This is a gorgeous old hand sequined flower appliqué that came from the remaining inventory of the workshop of a lady who had a trim and sequining business from the 1930s through to the 1960s. She supplied many of the dressmakers and couturiers located in Canada and the US. I estimate that this piece most likely dates to the 1940s due to its style and the type of sequins used. It is hand applied onto a buckram type mesh backing - it is quite amazing how much work went into this. It is quite a good sized piece (note scale as posed on dress), measuring 6 3/4 in height by 5 across (sequins only). Classy gold and black combination on this piece - nice shine to the black sequins as these, I believe, are the old gelatin type. 1940s sophistication!
