This is a fine quality vintage cotton dress shirt made in England by Turnbull & Asser of London. The shirt is made of 100% cotton and printed in a fine checked pattern, a variation on a Glen plaid in colours of maroon with green accenting on a white background. The shirt does up with 7 shell buttons and has three shell buttons at either cuff. The shirt has a split yoke, a sign of quality. I believe that the shirt dates to the 1970s as the Royal Warrant, which was granted in 1980, is absent from the label.
Label: The Turnbull & Asser St James London Made in England with the “Quorn” symbol at the upper left.
Sizing: Size 15 1/2 is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior:
Shoulders: 17 3/4” across shoulder seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 25 1/2” from shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 22” long
Chest: 45” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 40”
Overall length: 30", measured flat
Condition: This shirt, although pre-owned, is in very good condition with no wear, tear or staining. It has been laundered, but would need a pressing.
This is a superior quality shirt with a striking pattern and colour combination - vintage shirts of this type are always a cut above what is produced now!
