Vintage 1970s Maxi Coat Black Velvet Holt Renfrew 1300 S M

$195.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1970s maxi coat sold by Holt Renfrew as part of the “1300 Collection”, named for their address, 1300 Sherbrooke St. Montreal.  The 1300 Collection was sold on the 4th floor of the Holt Renfrew department store - of course, Holt Renfrew is known for selling primarily luxury brands and high end fashion.  This vintage 1970s maxi coat has peaked lapels, six button double breasted closure, turned cuffs and a pocket at either side with a horizontal opening.  The collar, lapels, cuffs, pockets and opening are all trimmed in black rickrack.  The buttons are faceted plastic, very nice.  The coat is fully lined in black acetate fabric.  This vintage 1970s maxi coat would provide warmth in a colder climate although it isn’t meant for harsh winter use.

Material:  Cotton velvet, very nice quality

Sizing: There is no size label, and although this vintage 1970s maxi coat should fit a small to medium size (note narrow shoulders), please rely on the following measurements for fit (please take the style of this vintage 1970s maxi coat and thickness of the fabric into consideration):

Shoulders:  15 1/2” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves:  24” long

Sleeve inseam: 17”

Bust: 37” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  30” around

Hips:  38” around

Overall length: 56", measured flat

Condition: This vintage 1970s maxi coat is in very good condition with no wear except for some velvet matting to the elbows of the sleeves - this might be able to be eliminated with a dry cleaning, but is not that serious an issue.  The cuffs may be unstitched as I noticed some stitches, but I would leave them as they are as they look fine and I’m not sure that they were stitched back in the first place.  There is some yellowing to the label, but otherwise, no other wear, tear, holes, stains or odour. .

This is a really flattering vintage 1970s maxi coat, excellent quality and attractive 70s style!
