Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage Issey Miyake jacket dating to the 1994 autumn/winter season.  This vintage Issey Miyake jacket was made in Japan of 100% cotton brocade woven in a multicoloured floral/foliate patchwork pattern.  Each patchwork panel features its own array of hues, either in a primarily green palette, blue palette or red palette.  The jacket has padded shoulders with dropped seams, straight collar, full cut sleeves with turned cuffs, and is cut with a wide silhouette that flares slightly to the bottom, so that the jacket falls in drapes.  This vintage Issey Miyake jacket closes with five metal buttons down the front and is unlined.  There is a large patch pocket at either side.

Label: Issey Miyake.  Issey Miyake (b. 1938) left Tokyo in 1964 for Paris, where he worked for Guy Laroche and then Givenchy.  In 1969 he went to New York to work with Geoffrey Beene and then returned to Tokyo in 1970, establishing his own “Miyake Design Studio”.

Sizing: Size “M” is indicated, but given its loose fitting style, this vintage Issey Miyake jacket might accommodate a larger size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the intended oversized style into account:

Sleeves: 21” long from the pad, 18” from the shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 18” long

Bust: 52” around / 26” across

Bottom:  64” around

Overall length: 32“, measured flat

Condition:  This vintage Issey Miyake jacket is in excellent condition with no wear, tear, holes or odour.  This jacket looks to have seen very little use and to have been well stored over the years.

This is an exceptional vintage Issey Miyake jacket designed at the height of his career - a piece to use and treasure for many years!
