Vintage 1980s Yohji Yamamoto Jacket Y’s Line Blazer

$495.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a 1980s Yohji Yamamoto jacket, part of his Y's line - it most likely dates to the late 1980s. It features a double-breasted oversized, loose fit with prominent shoulder pads, peaked lapels, a deep V neckline, a jetted pocket at either side and a chest jacket. As indicated in Japanese on the content label, the jacket is made from 100% hemp, with sleeves lined in cupro, a type of rayon known for its softness and breathability. The fabric has a silver grey pinstripe pattern against a dark charcoal or black background.

The label inside the jacket reads "Y's," a line known for its wearable interpretations of Yamamoto's avant-garde fashion. This label style is consistent with other garments produced by the brand in the late 1980s. This 1980s Yohji Yamamoto jacket also features standard care instructions in Japanese, indicating it should not be machine washed or bleached, but can be dry cleaned and ironed at a medium temperature.  Below the care symbols are Japanese characters that read “Kabushiki Gaisha Y's," which is the Japanese business name for Y’s.  The content side of the label reads “Made in Japan”.

Sizing:  there is no size label on this 1980s Yohji Yamamoto jacket and Yamamoto’s designs are generally meant to be gender neutral.  Although I believe that this should fit a women’s medium or a men’s small, please note the following measurements, keeping the oversized style of this 1980s Yohji Yamamoto jacket in mind:
