Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Suit Check Wool 40 Made in Japan
$795.00
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful pre-owned Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme suit. Although made more recently, the jacket appears to take inspiration from the Swinging 60s, very much like something that Austin Powers would have worn. It is made in a checked black wool with a military type collar and lapel and an eight covered button double breasted front. The jacket has slightly padded shoulders, a chest pocket, a flapped pocket at either side, four buttons at each cuff and is fully lined in black cupro fabric that is ghost printed with “Pour Homme”. There is a 10” back vent. The pants are made with a flat front, a button and hook closure at the waist and a nylon zipper. The pant legs have turned cuffs.
Label: Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Made in France. Yamamoto introduced his menswear line in 1984. I haven’t been able to precisely date the suit, but it was made between 2001 and 2009 as it has the Chinese production standard issued in 2001 (GB/T 2664-2001) - this was replaced in 2009 by the Chinese standard GB/T 2664-2009. Although the suit was made in Japan, the Chinese standard would have been included as Chinese was an important export market for Yamamoto.
Material: 100% wool
Sizing: Size 50 in marked on the jacket label and 34 is marked on the pants label. The jacket size is European and should be equivalent to a US size 40 - I believe that this should fit someone who is tall. Please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the suit into consideration:
Shoulders: 19” across from seam to seam
Sleeve: 26“ from the shoulder seam
Sleeve inseam: 17 3/4”
