Vintage 1960s Party Dress Blue Organza Size M

$150.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a sleeveless 1960s party dress with a fitted bodice, full skirt, and a decorative waistband featuring a central decoration consisting of intricate embroidery that is studded with rhinestones.  This dress is characteristic of early 1960s fashion, with its emphasis on a defined waist and voluminous skirt, suitable for formal or semi-formal occasions.  The dress is constructed with a top layer of organza that is probably made of nylon, with blue acetate taffeta behind it.  The skirt is also supported with netting as well as a layer of stiff muslin.  It has spaghetti straps and closes with a metal zipper at the back. Please note that the dress was posed with a crinoline, but none is provided - the dress can be used without a crinoline, however, a fuller skirt is achieved with the use of one.

Label:  only an ILGWU union label that was in use from 1955 until 1964

Size: The stock label reads 11, but this is a vintage sizing, and although this would appear to fit a size medium, please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Bust:  35”-36”

Waist:  28”

Hips:  Full

Length:  42”, laid flat from the top of the shoulder straps

Condition:  In very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or odour.  There is one thread pull in the skirt (see last close-up photo) that is not visible when the dress is being worn and some very slight yellowing at the armpits, very minor.

This is a fun Happy Days era dress - pretty colour and style!
