This is a vintage 1960s mens overcoat made under the Crombie Sealskin brand name by Freedman of Montreal Canada.  Freedman was founded in 1906 by Lyon Cohen and went on to become one of Montreal’s largest clothing manufacturers - Friedman was the maiden name of his wife.  As an aside, Lyon Cohen’s grandson was poet Leonard Cohen, who briefly worked at the company during the 1950s.  This vintage 1960s mens overcoat is made of fine quality wool in a navy blue colour.  It has high set notched lapels and does up with three buttons at the front.  There is a flapped pocket at either side and the sleeves have two buttons at each cuff.  It has a 12 1/2” kick vent at the back and this vintage 1960s mens overcoat is half lined in a black satin fabric.  It is made in a shorter 1960s knee length (for an average height man)

Label: Crombie Sealskin Loomed in Scotland Tailored Exclusively by Freedman.  Crombie Sealskin was a registered brand name of JJ Crombie of Aberdeen, Scotland.

Union label: ACWA - Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America that was in use from 1962 until 1976

Retailer label:  Morgan’s.  Morgan’s was a higher end department store located in Montreal

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this vintage 1960s mens overcoat should fit a US size 40 - please rely on the following measurements for fit, either comparing them to another coat that you may own or your body measurements, allowing room for fit (4”-6” at the chest) or more should you wish to wear a suit jacket underneath this vintage 1960s mens overcoat:

Shoulders: 18 3/4” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 25 3/4” long from the shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17 1/4”

Chest: 45”

Condition: This vintage 1960s mens overcoat is in excellent condition except for a 3/4" tear to the upper lining, very minor (see last close-up photo) - otherwise, very clean with a beautiful nappe (finish), this really looks like it saw very little use, has a dry cleaning ticket affixed to it, and was well stored over the years. This is a quality Scottish wool overcoat - excellent vintage 1960s mens overcoat in great shape!
