1970s Vintage Paul Stuart Overcoat Navy Blue Wool Coat Sz 40

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is an exceptional quality 1970s vintage Paul Stuart overcoat.  Paul Stuart has been in existence since 1938 and is known for producing high quality menswear with a European design sensibility.  This vintage Paul Stuart overcoat is made with wide peaked lapels, a double breasted 2x3 button closure, two button cuffs, flapped pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest.  It has a 19” kick vent at the back.  It was union made in Canada under license to Paul Stuart, most likely by Samuelsohn, a maker of high quality menswear that I believe was the manufacturer of choice in Canada for Paul Stuart.

Age:  most likely 1973.  The ACWA union label was used between 1962 and 1976 and the code of 73660 might have started with the year (73) - the lapel style is in keeping with that dating.

Sizing: Size 40 regular is indicated on the label of this vintage Paul Stuart overcoat - please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders: 19” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 25 3/4” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 17”

Chest:  47” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  43” around

Overall length:  41”, measured flat

Condition:  This vintage Paul Stuart overcoat is in very good condition with a clean exterior with no wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour - the lining has a reddish discolouration.  Otherwise, this coat looks to have seen little use and has been well cared for over the years. .

Vintage Paul Stuart overcoats from the 1970s are difficult to come by - even higher quality than post-2001 production when Paul Stuart was acquired by Mitsui of Japan.

This vintage Paul Stuart overcoat features excellent tailoring - sure to be noticed!
